In March of 2020 the entire world was in the beginning stages of the Covid19 pandemic countries were seeing people getting sick and dying in vast numbers. As the virus spread throughout the United States so did the fear of getting sick or dying as the death toll numbers began to rise. The country began to see industries, businesses and communities go into lock down. The entire Haverford Township Police Department continued to protect and serve the community. Officers left the safety of their homes and their families behind to go uncertain environments to serve the community. Officers continued to handle not only the regular calls for service, but civil unrest and large scale events such as the Black Lives Matter March held in June of 2020. During the pandemic officers handled over 47,000 calls for service in which anyone of the contacts with the public could lead to a possible Covid19 exposure. The year of 2020 has been described as one of the most trying years for mankind in this century.
The mission of the Haverford Township Police Department is to improve the quality of life throughout the Township by providing a secure community environment through the delivery of police services in an efficient and effective manner.
We, the Haverford Township Police Department, are dedicated to protecting all persons, and fostering a positive relationship of cooperation and understanding between the Police Department and the citizens of Haverford Township.
In 2020 every officer of the Haverford Township Police Department is deserving of Officer of the Year for their dedication and service to the residents of Haverford Township during these unprecedented times.
