Take Control in 1, 2, 3, and Be Informed About Spring Flooding
By: FEMA.gov
Dear Pennsylvania Partners, As Spring approaches, we aim to help households, businesses and communities prepare for the unpredictable weather it may bring. For the 2024 Spring season, FEMA Region 3 theme is: “Take Control in 1, 2, 3, and Be Informed About Spring Flooding.” Attached is the 2024 Flood Safety Toolkit with information and tips to mitigate risks and prepare to navigate flood incidents effectively. The toolkit offers graphics and information on: Preparedness, Awareness and Alerts that can help save lives and protect properties. We want to highlight the short video Turn Around Don't Drown PSA (youtube.com) which illustrates the danger of crossing flood waters. It takes only 12 inches of flowing water to carry off a small car. Let’s work together to increase awareness in our communities and minimize the loss of life. Did you know, everyone is at risk of flooding? Pennsylvania has a map that shows you that most flooding in Pennsylvania reported to the National Weather Service happened outside the 100-year flood zone! Help your community take control and be ready… it floods. #FloodSafety starts with access to quality information; let’s give that to our communities so they can take informed actions.
